Slow Down Food's Mexican street food pop-up El Barrio is now in residence at Grand Union Studios, every Thursday night throughout summer. Forget #tacotuesdays, we've heard #tacothursday is the future.

Slow Down Food started in 2014 and is run by Kensal Rise locals, Hugh and Suzy Lynch. Having worked in the city for many years Hugh decided it was time to trade carbon for tacos.

Hugh is a slow roasting, home curing, family cook and private chef. He draws inspiration for his menus from his extensive travels in Central America and his American roots. Suzy was born and raised in Kensal Rise, with a background in film production and wine.

El Barrio was recently featured on the BBC Good Food weekly write-up, and we think their hunch was right - it could well be the summer of the taco.

Kensal Rise residents Suzy Strong and Hugh Lynch focus on locally-sourced ingredients, using freshly-made corn tortilla taco shells from Cool Chile Coand meat from traditional family butchers O’Farrells in Willesden.
