Richard Branson wants to give your business £1M

“We should give San Francisco a run for its money”
Sir Richard Branson relaunched his nationwide Pitch 2 Rich competition for 2015 with the ambitious rallying cry to UK startups encouraging them to build businesses which would rival Silicon Valley. Broadcast last night on Channel 4 and ITV News, Branson put his money where his mouth is by announcing an unprecedented £1M accelerator prize fund in partnership with LinkedIn. 
Entering is pretty simple. Decide which category you fit into and prepare a fifty word pitch, a video, images, logo and supporting documents. The winners will be chosen by a mix of public vote and expert panels and the competition will culminate in a live final on the 26th June.
Start-up – Are you a new business with huge ambitions? Winner receives £150,000 marketing support, mentoring and help from Virgin StartUp’s professional business advisers for a year. Two runners-up get £50,000 marketing support.
New Things – Do you have a big, new, disruptive idea? Winner gets £50,000 cash towards development, plus mentoring from Virgin’s Investment Team. Two runners-up receive £10,000 each fro development.
Grow – Do you own a business which has been around but is now ready for major expansion? Winner gets £250,000 marketing support, and two runners-up receive £100,000 marketing support.

You have until the 5th of May to enter.
There will be lots of other perks to winning including full internet and fixed and mobile voice package from Virgin Media Business for 12 months and unlimited Virgin Train travel for 12 months. Sadly, there’s been no indication as of yet whether winning would guarantee a space flight.
