They tell us about catering to new and growing companies, funding plans in the near future and new products which are on the horizon.
Tell us a bit about yourself.
We are the co-founders of MBJ London, a web design company based out of Canalot Studios in West London. We’re both originally from Germany and we met while completing our Master’s at Hult International Business School in London. At MBJ, our motto is considered to be “A keen eye for detail can make all the difference.”
Tell us about MBJ and how you got started.
MBJ began back in 2011 when we began offering social media and SEO consulting services to peers at university. Five years later, we’re a full-fledged tech company serving numerous clienteles both in London and abroad.
We pride ourselves on providing high quality websites and serving our client’s IT needs in any way we can, at affordable prices.
We’re now offering Website as a Service (WaaS) an exciting, new approach to web design that includes the design, development, maintenance and support necessary in order to craft the perfect website.
Could you tell us about some of your favourite clients and projects?
One of our most interesting projects is our work with Grow Movement, a UK-based charity that provides the knowledge of experienced businesspeople around the world to aspiring entrepreneurs in Rwanda, Uganda, and Malawi.
We worked directly with the Grow Movement Chairman and Board, in order to develop an online system providing Grow Movement staff access to tools that help reorganise processes related to applications, project management, and impact assessment.
How long have you been at Workspace and what’s it like being settled at Canalot Studios?
We first opened our office at Workspace about a year ago, in early 2015. Our experience at Workspace so far has been fantastic; we’ve come to know many other businesses in the building and the tight knit, friendly community at Canalot Studios.
Business-wise, what are you most proud of?
Since we pride ourselves on providing high-quality products to our pool of clientele, the core of our business is based on our multitalented team. Our London headquarters houses a diverse team of 16 members including Project Managers, UI/UX Designers, Growth Hackers, and Business Development Professionals.
Our recently opened office in Prague is home to five developers. Overall, we are a versatile team constantly motivated and stimulated by our clients and their technical needs.
How are you funded? Did you seek any outside help?
Until 2016, our budgets have been bootstrapped and we are just about to close a pre-seed investment round. The larger investment round will happen later this year in order for MBJ to scale up and continue growing.
Where do you see MBJ in a year's time? In three years’ time?
Our future plans are to become a dedicated IT partner to SMEs; we strive to provide the support and technical advice that small businesses necessitate.
Our current market is mainly in the UK and Europe but we aim to target the international market in the coming years, as MBJ grows and expands globally.
What are the trends you're seeing in web design and management?
The most exciting trend in the world of web design and management is the introduction of Website-as-a-Service (WaaS). We aim to carry this trend through the future of the industry and grow along with the endless opportunities this presents for MBJ.
What are the most important things for you in an office space? What's your office luxury?
Amongst the most important things for our office is the space to host private meetings and make a comfortable environment for both our clients and our team.
