It’s that back-to-school time of year and time to get back to the top of the class. We’ve compiled all the startup competitions that are looking for your talent and want to give you money… lots of it:
1. For those just getting started
Website builder, Moonfruit, has launched a competition to offer one lucky start-up business a winning prize valued at £10,000 which includes £5,000 in cash plus the same value in kit. Find out more.
2. For those interested in urban infrastructure, digital life, future mobility or the future of industry... phew!
The CODE_n CONTEST is on the lookout for young entrepreneurs with fresh, unconventional business ideas. The competition – based each year on an issue of global relevance – finds the most promising startups from around the globe. Become one of the 50 finalists and get your chance to win 30,000 euros and lots of exposure. Find out more.
3. For those keen on trade secrets
EY Startup Challenge, is an intensive 6-week innovation programme focused on finding a solution to the key business challenges posed by the “Right to be Forgotten”, which is being addressed in the forthcoming EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To be considered as one of the startups, you will have a technology which tackles data capture and storage, data management and sharing, or data erasure. Find out more here.
4. For those desperate to become a major UK brand
Now in its 11th year, the Startups Awards celebrates the country’s most exciting and disruptive new businesses launched in the last three years and has amassed a reputation for identifying companies that have gone on to become major UK brands. Previous winners include The Cambridge Satchel Company, Notonthehighstreet.com, Secret Escapes, and Naked Wines. The entry deadline for the Startups Awards 2014 has been extended to Friday 26 September. Get on with it here.

5. For those working in the recruitment and staffing sector
Recruitment Entrepreneur is James Caan’s Venture Capital fund, investing exclusively in the recruitment and staffing sector. They provide capital, support, advice and mentorship as well as a ‘plug-and-play’ system of back office and infrastructure. Find out more here.
6. For those looking for big money
Adevertising and marketing-focused B2B brand accelerator Collider (who are moving into Workspace's Metal Box in Southbank imminently) will be taking on ten startups who’ll get cash and coaching. They’ll each receive £50k for an 11% share in the company, and five of those companies will then go on to be offered a further £100k for another 11%. Find out more here.
You can also enter a competition run by Tech London Advocates to win a stand and pitch slot to senior industry experts at "The Next Big Thing" pitch event on October 21st.
