Tech for Women, by Women

February 27 at 18:30 | Cargo Works, Waterloo

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Workspace are delighted to be hosting this ‘Tech for Women, by Women’ workshop alongside Women of Wearables. Join us for an evening to celebrate and highlight some of the amazing female founders building the next generation of tech products and services for women.

Women are still underrepresented in the UK’s technology workforce with only 24% of them working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). According to a PwC UK research report, 78% of students can’t name a famous female working in tech.

But some women are pushing the frontiers of innovation in the tech industry, building companies and making products that change our lives for the better. So why aren’t we talking about them and their achievements more?

Tickets are free for Workspace customers to attend, simply use the code WORKSPACE at the checkout.

Agenda:

18.00 - 18.30 - Registration and networking
18.30 - 18.35 - Women of Wearables - 5-minute presentation
18:35 - 18:45 - Workspace - 5 min presentation

The Panel:

Kim Palmer, Founder and CEO of Clementine

Kim Palmer is the Founder and CEO of Clementine - a confidence-boosting app for busy women. Clementine supports thousands of women to sleep better, stress less and feel more confident so that they stop thinking they can’t do things and start believing they can. Clementine has been praised by the press, selected as ‘one of the seven apps every woman should be 'owned’ by The Guardian and promoted as ‘App of the day’ in the UK by Apple.

Elettra Bianchi Dennerlein, Founder and Co-CEO of My Online Therapy

Elettra Bianchi Dennerlein is the Founder and Co-CEO of My online therapy, the UK’s first virtual psychology clinic, which provides people with easy access to psychological therapies by connecting them with leading psychologists via video or webchat. One in four people in the UK will struggle with their mental health in any given year, according to the UK charity Mind. My Online Therapy provides people with access to therapies by connecting them with leading psychologists via video or webchat. After completing a free online assessment, the platform matches the user to the most appropriate therapeutic approach and the best psychologist for their situation. The user can choose to follow this recommendation or from any of the psychologist profiles on the platform.

Karen Morton, Founder and Medical Director at Dr Morton's

Dr Karen Morton is the Founder and Medical Director at Dr Morton's - the medical helpline©. After years of dealing with a multitude of gynaecological issues over the phone, Karen concluded that medicine had been slow to embrace communication technology and was somewhat stuck in a past era where it was traditional for all patients to come and sit in front of the doctor when they have a problem. Women need for gynaecological reasons (contraception, period problems, fertility and pregnancy, then menopausal matters) to seek medical advice more than men and that is how the idea for Dr Morton was born. Today, Dr Morton’s is the only online women's health service with direct access to consultant gynaecologists as well as top GPs.
