Find your perfect spaceIt’s easy to see why Tooting has experienced such a big influx of young professionals and families in the heart of South London. With a strong community feel, a slower pace of life than nearby surburbs, Balham and Tooting Broadway and no shortage of high street coffee shops and authentic restaurant haunts, it’s attracting an increasingly youthful demographic.
Tooting is well served by Underground services with Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway stations both on the Northern line, connecting the area to Waterloo and London bridge in around 20 minutes and Moorgate within 25 minutes. TfL is investing millions into the Northern line, which is expected to increase capacity by 20 per cent and speed by 18 per cent by the end of 2014.
Thameslink services also run through to Hertfordshire in the north and Sutton in the south. Cycling enthusiasts will also note that it’s on the CS7 cycle superhighway, which offers a faster, safer cycle route into the City.
The area has long held links with small industry with two indoor markets just a short walk apart. Tooting Market’s multicultural atmosphere and Broadway Market, one of London’s largest indoor markets, are both open six days-a-week.
Outside of office hours, you may be surprised to note that Tooting is home to some hidden culinary gems. In fact, Tooting is now known for its ‘curry corridor’ with dozens of curry and dosa houses open to the masses.
